Advancing in age
does not have to mean a declining quality of life. Turning
Point is designed to treat the unique emotional and
behavioral needs of adults 55 and older. The overall goal of
the program is to help restore each patient to the highest
possible level of functioning.
Turning Point places special attention on family involvement
throughout the treatment process, during discharge planning
and during aftercare services. The program offers specially
designed private rooms and other common areas such as a
dining room, a recreational room and a television lounge to
meet the needs of this unique population.
The Mission
Turning Point's mission is to provide an enhancing, positive
experience which will nourish self-esteem, pride and dignity
through promoting healing in the whole person: physically,
mentally, spiritually and emotionally.
The Program
Turning Point is a 14-bed inpatient mental health treatment
program, located on the third floor at Winston Medical
Center. The program addresses the needs of adults 55 and
older in Winston County and surrounding areas.

Treatment Team/Therapies
An interdisciplinary team of specially trained professionals
provides these unique services. The team consists of
psychiatrists, medical doctors, counselors, nurses, social
workers, physical and occupational therapists and other
professions available through hospital services or contract
services. Turning Point recognizes that each patient has
unique needs; therefore, an individualized treatment plan is
developed for each patient. The team meets weekly to review
patient's needs and make care recommendations.
