Winston Rehab’s occupational therapy department focuses on the independence of a person, whether it is for returning to work, play, or activities of daily living (dressing, grooming, etc.).  Our occupational therapists customize treatment programs aimed at:  improving upper extremity function and coordination, improving hand function by therapeutic exercise and splinting, improving cognition and visual perception that might be decreased secondary to an illness such as a stroke, improving abilities to carry out activities of daily living, decreasing pain by use of modalities, increasing work performance skills, and helping infants and toddlers to reach appropriate age skills.

You may need occupational Therapy if you:

  • Have a work related injury

  • Have a stroke or heart attack

  • Have arthritis, MS, or other serious illness

  • Have a child with a learning disorder, injuries from birth, or developmental delays

  • Have a broken bone or muscle debilitation resulting from sports, falls, or an accident

  • Have an amputation, burn, or a spinal cord injury

Industrial medicine has recently been added to our facility, providing an evaluation process to determine an individual’s capabilities for performing physical work and can be used to evaluate physical work performance after an injury or prolonged illness.  Our therapists can also determine physical work abilities prior to employment, qualifications for disability compensation, and guidelines for a work hardening or work-reconditioning program.  Physicians, attorneys, case managers, vocational counselors, insurance companies, employers, and clients can summarize our therapist’s results in an objective and easy to read format.  Learn “Skills for the Job in Living” from an Occupational therapist at Winston Rehab!
