Winston Medical Center Health Fair A Huge Success!

WINSTON MEDICAL CENTER HEALTH FAIR A SUCCESS
Winston Medical Center had over 175 participants from the community as well as over 80 vendors who provided free health services to the participants attend the Winston Medical Center Health Fair at First Baptist Church on Tuesday, September 24, 2013.
The event mixed serious medical issues, like high blood pressure, bone density, vascular and stroke screenings, PSA and Lipid screenings, diabetes prevention and mental health.
Those visiting the health fair especially enjoyed the Bone Density Screening that was provided as a free service that typically would cost around two hundred fifty dollars.  The flu shots that were provided by Winston Medical Center were also a huge success.
“It was a huge event and I was grateful to Winston Medical Center for putting the health fair on,” stated Wendy Burns, ECCC Nursing Student.  “As a nursing student, I realize that healthcare can be very overwhelming.”  “I was able to distinguish a lot of options as a nurse but as a person of the community I was also proud to see what our community and our hospital, Winston Medical Center, can offer to our community, at home.”  Burns said.   “I was very impressed with the variety of vendors that covered an array of preventive care services and materials,” stated Janice Hopkins, health fair attendee.    “Being a first time attendee in the Health Fair, I was pleasantly pleased at the wide range of vendors and the information that they provided.”  I took the stroke screening and was informed about ways to lower my risk.  I was also able to receive information to take home and further educate myself on many health issues.  Many thanks to Winston Medical Center for providing this opportunity to our community,” stated Rhonda Shotts, health fair attendee.
The mission at Winston Medical Center is to provide quality healthcare to Winston and surrounding communities.  “It is what it is all about, educating, training, helping, and offering services,” stated Lee McCall, CEO. “Winston Medical Center is setting high standards to be the best health care provider to our community and I hope that our health fair can continue to grow and be a benefit to persons of all ages.”
