The past year has brought a number of positive changes to Winston County, many of them in the area of healthcare. Winston Medical Center has continued to strengthen its position as the primary choice for health care delivery among area residents.
Prior the April 28, 2014 tornado, Winston Medical Clinics, a wholly owned division of Winston Medical Center, operated clinics in Louisville and Noxapater employing a total of three (3) providers: Dr. Micheal Ard, and Nurse Practitioners Heather Gilmer and Nancy Jordan. Since that time WMC has added six (6) new providers to staff: Dr. Dustin Gentry, and Nurse Practitioners Jennifer Palmer, Emily Perkins, Ashley Davis, Kelli Chunn and Kimberly Robertson.
On July 1, 2015 Winston Medical Clinic opened its’ newest branch at 106 Main Street. Winston Medical Clinic, one clinic with three locations, working together to provide strong healthcare to Winston County.
Winston Medical Center secured the transitional facility to serve patients during the rebuilding phases at the old location at 562 East Main Street. The transitional facility, which opened on April 1, 2015, is located at 923 South Church Avenue and allows Winston Medical Center to offer the following services: Turning Point Mature Adult Care Unit, mammography, CT, ultrasound, x-ray, full service laboratory, respiratory, 24/7 emergency room, swing-bed, inpatient rooms with private rooms and baths.
While continuing to provide health care to the people of Winston County, Winston Medical Center, is also focused on the rebuilding of its’ facilities at 562 East Main Street. General demolition began on July 12, 2015 and is expected to be completed by October 12, 2015. The new campus will include the hospital with 14 acute care beds, 10 Geri-psych beds, a medical office building that will also be the new home for Winston Therapy, and a separate Medical Center administrative building. The existing nursing home building will be renovated to accommodate 48 residents, all in private rooms. In addition, three (3) cottage buildings will be constructed to hold a total of seventy-two (72) residents. Also on the property will be a lake and walking track. Completion of the project is estimated to be in late summer of 2017.
