Winston Medical Center celebrates “National Wear Red Day”

Winston Medical Center celebrated “National Wear Red Day” today, February 5, 2016.
“National Wear Red Day” was established in 2002 by the American Heart Association to deliver an urgent wake-up call to American women about the significance of heart disease among women.

Employees wore t-shirts that list six important ways to make your heart healthy!

1.  Stay active.
2.  Avoid smoking.
3.  Cut down on salt intake.
4.  Maintain a healthy weight.
5.  If you have a family history, see your physician for a regular checkup.
6.  Monitor your blood sugar, cholestrol levels, and BP regularly.

That’s the purpose behind “National Wear Red Day,” to remind women that they can promote their own heart health and prevent disease and illness by taking steps to prevent and control health disease risk factors.

Heart disease is the number one killer of women and one in four American women dies of heart disease.
